Hi everyone! I don't post much but read the forum everyday.

I thought I would post a thread about my new project cage! I really am so excited about it.

My current cage -

So I decided that I wanted to make it even bigger. So first job was to move the degus into the husbands man cave! -

Then we moved the current cage right up to the other wall and placed the new base in position to give me an idea of what it will be like!-

We now need to sort the supporting frame round the edge for the Perspex and actually order the Perspex. Also need to change the ramp to the loft to go via the other side in the current cage and then add new metal supports in place to hold it up.

I will add to the thread as we make new changes so that you can all see the progress.

But I am really really excited and cannot wait! I have two very lucky boars who will enjoy this. I worked it out that it will be the equivalent of a 8 by 2.5 c&c cage when finished. With a loft running along part of the top still too.

Eeeek!

Ok so today we took the loft out so we could take the side off the cage and attach metal fixings to hold the loft up. The ramp will be moving to the other side soon.

Then we attached the bases, the back wall and made the frame for the Perspex!

So this is what we have right now.

Eek. Have ordered the Perspex now so should have that in 3 or 4 days. Guinea pigs will have to live on the floor in husbands man cave for a little while.

Cat helper whilst daddy was putting some nails in.

Fixing the loft and replacing the oil cloth and attempting to make it chew proof (attempting!)

All tidy!

Ramp moved.

And a panoramic shot! It's that big! Haha. It's not all asymmetric and pretty but it's going to be huge and o already love it. :-)

Clearly just rambling on to myself in here but ah well! Got to contain the excitement somehow!

Been in the room to feed and sort my rabbits that live in the floor in there and just stopped and stared at my amazing new cage. I can't wait for it to be complete now and get them in. The Perspex on the end near the window is going to let in the lovely sunshine for them when the curtain is open and it looked so inviting with the warm glow of the rising sun shining in it!

Lucky piggies.Gonna be stunning.I have just got my liberta 154 cage and it is massive. My two boys are going in there so I can use the floor space for my girls and Kyle.I have cage liners ordered from ziggies piggies. So looking forward to giving them loads of space.I have a couple of rabbits too.Ultimately I want a shed for them with a hutch in, pref 6 X 4.

cant wait to see it done! looks awesome!

No photo update tonight. Just done the sealant around the joins. Was hoping my Perspex would arrive tomorrow but not had a dispatch update so it's looking like Friday. Fingers crossed for Friday everyone as would love the get them in for the weekend :-)

So this morning I found out my Perspex wasn't going to be delivered before the weekend and bcause of the bank holiday this meant that the cage was going to be delayed quite a while. I rang the company to ask if there was anything I could do or pay extra to get it delivered tomorrow but they were pretty unhelpful frankly, I asked them to cancel and refund and I rang round other places and eventually found somewhere fairly local that were very helpful and went on a road trip!

Got the goods! (For cheaper than originally I might add!)

Checking the fit!

Stuck on with weight behind! And the view from the door!

More updates to follow this weekend. I need to get sewing my liners etc!

Can't wait to see it all finished - it looks amazing so far. What a fabulous cage it will be for your piggies.

I watched that bit a few times, where he's zooming in circles. Clearly very happy pigs

Yes Flash loves his Zoomies and laps! When I had them free ranging in the man cave he would do huge laps of the room! Ha. Happy boys makes me very happy.

Well done you! Your hard work clearly paid off with all the zoomies. Love it and gorgeous piggies too :luv:

It looks amazing. Well done! Where did you get the long fleece tunnel from please and the wee pads?

First cage clean! It absolutley didn't need it, amazing how much easier it is to keep a large cage clean. Plus they love to munch their hay in their litter boxes and hay loft and keep the rest of the cage much cleaner!

Added a privacy fleece forest!

Gossiping at the water fountain!

My poor boys! I do have some blue fleece I promise! I just really like pink, I'm sure they don't mind too much.....!? Haha.

Love it.
And I couldn't agree more about bigger cages being easier to clean. It feels like it should be more work, but it goes much longer between cleans.
And I am sure your boys are loving the pink.
Our Eddi has shown a real fondness for 'his' pink cupcake pigloo...
