bought two snuggle safes yesterday and i am absolutely SKINT! 40 quid from pets at home. shocking hahaha.

i thought id make them a nice bed last night put them in their snuggle boxes, the boys wouldnt go in their snuggle boxes with their snuggle pads in there grrrr i really dont think they liked them at all. i left them in there and went in the kitchen to check both boys were lay on the floor of their cage away from them haha. naughty pigs.

maybe its not cold enough yet, its really cold here though and the room they are in has no heating so i have to be cautious.(its an extension room) x

40 quid each or for the pair? I think online they're usually £15-20. :)

I'd only use them at night, because if you use them in the day then they won't get as used to the cold themselves . . . well they might like them more at night, silly piggies :)

hello sorry they were 40 quid for the pair haha i think they are expensive for what they are though arent they.

i did put them in at night. and they really werent having none of it hahaha. ill try them again i think when it gets colder x

Yeah they are quite expensive really. The amount we spend on our guinea pigs, we'd do anything for them :))

I guess that means they're not too cold yet anyway :)

Everything is expsensive in pet shops like that.I brought a new hutch yesterday and when it was put together i felt like taking it back as it wasn't worth it.But with these would you have to wash them daily as mine wee and poo sometimes where they sleep?

They might have been too hot to begin with (they do get quite warm) but as the night goes on and they cool a bit, they'll probably snuggle up. Mine didn't go near them at first. That reminds me, I need to buy another rolleyes Microwave will be on overdrive this winter I think!

I'm sure we spend half our food money on the piggies but you never think about it until after you've paid for their new toys! :)

We wanted to get a little cushion/warm hidey for when it gets cold but at those prices we decided to make our own.

Oh, and Biscuit (boar) always seems to sleep in his own wee! He has a permanently yellow leg eeewww.

thanks guys ill persevere with them. isnt it funny how they musnt know what hot feels like so it must scare them a bit hahaha if you know what i mean.

i gave them some popcorn from pets at home for pigs and because it was warm they were petrified of it and kept running away x

we are all mad about our pigs on this forum can * imagine how much we have all spent altogether hahahahha xx

Hee hee. My Eliza is obsessed with them and would lay on it in the peak of the summer if I allowed her too. Eleanor is the same but not quite as obsessed as Eliza. My newbies, Erin and Ena haven't seemed interested in them just yet. I haven't started to use them properly yet as I tend to wait until it gets really cold so that they feel the benefit more. I do however give them a snugglesafe after they have had a bath just in case they feel a bit chilly.

Last winter, I gave them one at about 10pm to last through the night and one during the day (on really cold days) as mine are outdoor pigs.

I know they are expensive but I wouldn't be without mine as they are good for peace of mind too :

I have 4 and have just bought another 4! It's still not going to be enough for the rescues in the shed plus dolly & dotty! Goodness me it's going to be an expensive winter.

Dolly is obsessed too and loves to lay on her snugglesafe. Kim I agree I think my microwave will blow up over the winter!

Mine love them, my Murphy RIP loved his especially.

Tip dont be tempted to pop it back in the microwave to warm it back up before its absolutely cold as i learnt the hard way and melted one and wrecked it, and oh god it smelt bad as it melted:red

I use an old pot hot water bottle that belonged to my Nan! I just wrap it in a fleece and put it in between their pigloos so they warm up a bit....but I'm a bit hard i think, i dont give heat etc until later in year when its proper chilly otherwise they will be soft :{

Am i a bad mummy?? :(

I must order mine, have never used them before but this winter we will hopefully have Cherry with us (as long as Dodge isn't scared of her, big woos) and as she is currently not as outdoor as my lot I don't want her getting cold. Plus after last winter I think they deserve them!

I was going to get mine from an Amazon seller I think called vets4pets or similar, anyone used them?

i got two the other day from vetuk, they are £13.76. i got two and didn't pay postage then as the order was over £15. :)

also, if you go through fife rabbit rescue to the vetuk site, they get 5% of the sales i think. :)

I got one for Boris as hes a hairless baby, I'd rather spend £13 than have the heating on 24/7!
I know what you mean, I have spent a bomb over the years and sometimes they just turn their noses up! and you think "thanks very much"rolleyes we've spent about £300 on ours in two weeks...we only have one wage coming in at the moment as well!...But they are my babies and so worth it:))

Thanks for the tip. I have just ordered 2 from there. I only needed another one and was going to pay £19.99 from pets at home so I thought I may as well have 2 for £7 more :)):x

For a budget, yet effective solution, wrap a nearly-boiling, half full hot water bottle in a towel/fleece etc. I used to cover it with some hay as well in case my now long departed GP got hungry but didn't want to move... ;)

So very, very cute.
