I know this has probably been asked before. I’m wondering if I can use a snugglesafe in my hutches? Does anyone use them? How do I put them in? E.g can they go on top of the hay or should they be hidden?

Thanks 😊

Ive read quite a few people using snugglesafes this time of year in their hutches, especially with how the weather has changed in the U.K. recently. I would suggest putting them under the hay, however my pigs are in doors and so I don't use snuggle safes too often so sorry but can't recommend on this aspect

Absolutely! It is exactly what they are designed for!
I have a two tier hutch and use four snuggle safes for my two boys. I put two upstairs (one in each of their huts in the bedroom area) and two downstairs (one by their hay rack and one under their pile of hay that they tunnel and play in). In the bedroom huts, I just put them in, sometimes I put them under hay but not always, they still stay warm the same length of time regardless. They come in a fleece cover so piling hay on top of them isn’t entirely necessary.
i pop them in when it is 12 degrees or less, day or night.

I use them with my rabbits (piggies are indoors), and they get a mixed reception.
Our old boy seems quite fond of them and our young female views them as evil intruders that have come to eat her!
I always make sure that the rabbits have comfy hideys they can retreat to that do not have a snuggle safe in, just in case they don't want the extra heat.

I just put my snuggle safe in the main hides under hay remarkably they didn’t see or poo on it!

My rabbits not at all happy about snugglesafes but Piggies (shed dwelling) love them! (Mind my five year old rabbit has a habit of pushing all bedding out of the way and prefers sitting directly on the wood of the hutch (very strange boy!))

Yes when mine were outside I'd just put them in, on top of the hay, in their fleece covers for the pigs to snuggle up to / sit on / ignore as they chose!

I put mine under the hideys so that the hideys are lovely and warm. Very often when I go out to see them in the morning they have moved the hideys off the snugglesafes if they have got too warm.

I heat mine in the fleece cover its easier as you don't have to juggle a hot heat pad into a cover. It's perfectly safe. I do it all the time. Be careful to follow the heating instructions carefully for the power of your microwave.

I take mine out of the cover to heat but I know there are some that heat it within the fleece cover. It just makes me feel uneasy for some reason!
If you heat out of the fleece cover, ensure you use a cloth to remove it as they get hot when not in the cover!
