I'm thinking of repurposing some of my little girls old fleece jumpers to make some snuggle sacks for my piggies. Those of you who have made your own in the past do you think this would work? Also if you have any other ideas of what I could make from them easily we seem to have quite a few.

Any fleece as long as it's 100 % polyester would do, I have even bought a fleece picnic blanket cheap & recycled it! I made beds & tunnels from mine, as I found that snuggle sacks they tend to lay on top of, or one will trap the other one in it & all hell breaks loose :)

Great minds think alike then ;) I have just made some fleece snuggle sacks and beds from "up cycled" fleece tops belonging to my children. They have both recently had a growth spurt and so I was sorting out their clothes to take to charity. The fleece pyjama tops from Primark seem to work particularly well!
You could make beds to lie on, or snuggle sacks, or cosy cups. I just kind of made up my own pattern but there are lots of tutorials on you tube etc :) If your children are small then you can sew the fleece together as patchwork to make pieces big enough to use.

If you cut the pieces out carefully you can retain the central motif on the jumper in the centre of the bed, eg. Jack's bed is blue fleece and has a monster in the middle of it. The bed I am currently working on has an alien and a rocket ;)

Recycling is the best :)

Thank you, I will check to make sure they are 100% polyester but I'm pretty sure they are.

Goth Mummy I'd love to see some pics if it's not too much trouble give me some ideas :ple:

Oh they are not that pretty ;) But serviceable, but I will certainly take some pictures for you x

That looks......................cosy! Lol :D Well done, it looks fab, hope they like it now you need to make them one each lol :)

And here's the second one, made last night while watching tv. I just repeated what I did with the first one. This ones a bit bigger as it was made from larger jumpers. While more roomy it doesn't stay open so well, so pigwood the teddy is sat in there to keep it open now. Don't worry he's only little so there's still lots of room for piggies to snuggle.

I made this tunnel and bed. The tunnel was espcially easy you just need wadding for middle

@Briony_S what weight of wadding did you use in your tunnel? And roughly how much. I'd love to make a bed too but think I need to work up to that. Does the bed have wadding too?

yes they both do. I used a very thick wadding for tunnel, think it was 8 or 9oz? I can't remember but it is the very thick one. I used the thick wadding for the bed too! I used a you-tube video for the bed but tunnel I just did myself.

I'm going to make one now as I am going to try and bond two boys this afternoon they will need some open hideys, one is a skinny so he needs a soft tunnel really as I daren't let him have a snuggle sack (if bonding works) for a few weeks at least. I will attempt to do you a demo video, I don't have any editing packages on my computer though so will be a bit of a slap dash event though lol! will post it tonight.

Ok so tunnels went a bit wrong but I will explain basics instead lol.

you need three retangle pieces 1 wadding 1 cotton 1 fleece.

stitch wadding to fleece all way round. Then you fold in half and stich together to form a tube. Stitch the cotton together to form tube then you stitch the two tubes together. I did a video but it went a bit wrong. Hopefully if I get time I'll do another next weekend!

The measurements I used were for wide tubes will fit two pigs as I thought that'd be better for a newly bonded pair so they can snuggle togethervor have one each (I made two).

Length I used was 20 inches as you need extra length for folding over and width I used was 24 inch this is wide enough for two youngish pigs
