Thanks everyone for your responses to my last thread!

Snufkin's new home is basically a run in a shed, being used like a cage, but easily lifted outside too. In the future I can section off a part of the shed with mesh to give him even more room. (The run is 3ft x 3ft I believe.)
I've treated the wood beneath to be waterproof and such, however at some point I'll probably get some vinyl/lino/similar-sort-of-stuff and put it down.

He can also be popped into the rest of the shed when I'm in there to run around and stuff.

Currently I'm saving up to have him neutered, and then we can get him a girlfriend. xx>>>

That looks lovely! If I was you, I would consider bedding him on fleece. It will be cheaper in the long run as unless you have a good source of woodshavings they are quite expensive. You would need to put lino down to protect the floor and then newspapers on top followed by the fleece.

I was considering using vet bed originally, but it was just so expensive to get enough of it. Since then, I've heard equally good and bad reviews of both vet bed and fleece (that put me off quite a lot, to be honest - plus I worry about our washing machine and dryer, as they have enough to deal with with all of the cat hair), so I decided to stick with wood shavings simply because I've not had a problem with them, and also I need to buy them anyway for some of my other pets. (Primarily my gerbil.)

If you were to get as much of the hay off as you can and sweep the poo's off, you could put the fleece inside an old pillow case or duvet cover and wash it that way? Once i have used all of my woodshavings and straw up i will be changing to fleece.

Wow, thats a great size for your piggie.
And good luck on your saving to get him neutered and a new girlie friend!:)p
BTW how much does it actually cost?
