Hello,
My piggy Pumba started showing signs of runny nose and eyes a couple of weeks back. I took him to the vet and she thought he didn't look that bad and gave him an antibiotic injection. She said she didn't think he needed anything else but I could take baytril if I wanted and use it if I felt he needed it. (Obviously I took it).
After 7 days of baytril he seemed to have slightly declined. I took him to see a different vet (my usual exotics vet is on leave at the moment 😥) she found lumps under his chin and suggested it could be lymphoma or possibly just abcess or infection. She took a sample which has been sent off and switched him to sulfatrim. He seems in a really bad way now making noises as he breathes and not moving around at all.
Part of me thinks it might be his time and part of me wants to hold out til we get the results in case it gives us a clue how to treat him.
I guess my questions are; have others had experience of this? Given the runny nose and eyes is it more likely to be one condition than another? Has anyone had similar experience and had a positive outcome or should I be making a decision for him?
Thank you in advance x

Aw I’m sorry that your piggy isn’t well :( I would continue with the antibiotics and wait and see what the lab results say. Hopefully it’s an infection that will clear with the antibiotics but if it is lymphoma, at least you will be able to make an informed choice

Thank you Claire I'm just worried that he is suffering unnecessarily 😥 I forgot to ask the vet how long it takes to get results back, does anyone know roughly how long to expect?

In the meantime could you ask the vet for some painkillers to give alongside the antibiotics.
If he is in pain from an abscess, then this might help him perk up a bit.

Thank you both for your help. Pumba took the decision out of my hands and passed away last night. I hope to think I gave him a good life and he was a happy boy with his hareem of lady pigs but I am going to miss his gentle soul terribly.
