Snotty Nose

Hello everyone,

I'm just looking for some advice. I've cleaned out the boys cage an hour ago and put fresh shavings down and I've noticed just now that Wilburt has some snot coming from his nose. Its coming from both nostrils and this is the first time this has happened. Should I call the vets or should I wait to see how he is tomorrow before booking an appointment? I just want to do what's best for him. Thank you in advance.

Hi, a snotty nose could be a symptom of a URI brewing so I would have him vet checked if only to rule it out. Of course, it could also be due to an irritant so make sure you don’t have any irritants in his room such as scented candles, air diffusers, air fresheners etc

Thank you! I've called the vets and they are going to call me back tonight to discuss what to do next. He's fine in himself which is a good sign so far

Unfortunately the vet never rang me back so I'm going to call them first thing in the morning, he definitely needs to be seen. Is there anything I should be doing overnight different to normal? Thank you in advance

Silly question, what are guinea pigs noses supposed to look like? Are they supposed to be dry all round or can the inside be a little bit wet? I'm kicking myself for never looking now before this
