So today Kronk has just started sneezing a lot, we've had a couple from him over the past week but not too much, but today he has sneezed about 4 or 5 times in the last hour. I was looking at the symptoms for URIs and apart from sneezing he doesn't seem to have any of the other symptoms, he's still eating and drinking and seems fine in himself. He has been taking naps a bit more recently but I thought this may be because he is settling a bit more. Could it be his hay or bedding? We use dust extracted Timothy Hay and "dust free" woodshavings, but having read a few threads I have discovered that it probably isn't dust free. Should I try changing this and see if it helps or should I just get a vet to check him over? If I was change bedding what would be the best option? Also for vets I don't know if anyone would know of a good Taunton based cavy savvy vet? As the vet locator doesn't really make it as far as me

I would aim to purchase dust-free/low dust hays as they often benefit piggies who are prone to respiratory issues. I use Oxbow Hay, which is low-dust hay, as Stubbins has a history with URIs. You don't necessarily need to switch from bedding to fleece, but you may need to switch from one type of bedding to another. You are using wood shavings, but what kind? Are they kiln-dried? As for vets, I would just look up "vets in Taunton, Somerset" and find a location with positive reviews from fellow cavy owners. :)

P.S.
I would take your piggy in for the soonest appointment available. It's best not to wait for things to clear up when it comes to respiratory illness.
