I just picked olive up out of the hutch and she sneezed. Some green mucus type liquid came out of her nose and I’m wondering if this is something I should worry about. Otherwise she is physically fine, eating well, maintaining weight but I just wanted to check if it’s something I should be concerned about.

If it were me I would get her checked out, even though it’s just the once. It’s good that she is is maintaining weight.

I did get her checked out as she was beginning to lose weight unfortunately. She has a mild uri but will be better soon 😊

I hope she recovers well now she is on medication.
Keep up with daily weight checks while she is unwell and syringe feed if she is still losing weight.

Thank you, hopefully it will be up from here but will definitely be weighing her still. If I needed to syringe feed would I need to buy critical care?

Mushed pellets is the emergency alternative and is fine to use. But it’s harder to get to go through a syringe so you have to cut the end off the syringe.
Critical care is best should a piggy need to be fed for a longer term as it is higher in fibre than pellets.

You said she did start losing weight - how much did she lose?

Our scales aren’t too accurate, so it was around 10-15g overnight we think. At the vets she was 1140, and she weighed 1150 at home yesterday so there was definitely some lost

10-15g isn’t a loss - it’s a normal fluctuation. It’s only considered a loss when it’s 50g or more
100g in a 24 hours is an emergency.
However with inaccurate scales it’s going to be difficult to monitor

Fluctuations aren’t normal for her to be honest, she’s always been on the bigger side😂so it certainly worried me when I saw the loss, especially since she hadn’t lost any previously

It's just a fluctuation and wouldn't worry. 10-15g is like emptying a full bladder or having a good poo.

Remember to weigh at the same time each day. I prefer morning before any veggies or pellets and this can make the weight increase/decrease look more dramatic than it is.

If she is losing 10-15g everyday over the course of a week that's when id start to worry as there's a downward trend. But for now, you're ok.

:agr:
A one off loss of less than 50g is not of concern but if there are lots of small losses which start to accumulate into a bigger loss then that is of concern
