Hi everyone, I’m going to talk to my vet later today but I just wanted to ask if anyone had similar experiences. About two weeks ago, I noticed a couple of unusually smaller poops. I was reading the forum and someone said it might be a sign of not eating enough. I have my work space next to their cage and I see they are behaving the same, but just to be sure I started weighting my guinea pigs every day. Their weight has been constant. The poops came back to normal next day so I didn’t think about it too much, but in the last couple of days I saw again smaller poops. I think one of my guinea pigs is pooping a mix of normal and smaller ones, because I see the same amount of poops, but just a few of them smaller. The texture, smell and colour are exactly the same, but you can see in the picture they are smaller. I also touched the bellies and they are soft, don’t feel bloated. I will separate them for a couple of hours to see if I find out who is the offender! Any thoughts will be appreciated :)

The poops don’t look bad at all to me - they are a good consistency.
They may be shorter than you are used to seeing but they aren’t thinner - thinner poops signify a reduced food intake. Shorter poops can be a sign of a pain issue - are you noticing any pain symptoms from either?

However if their weights are maintaining then they are eating enough hay.
Personally I would not separate at this point particularly as this issue is not consistent and if you aren’t seeing any other symptoms.

Thank you so much. I’ve been really observing them and they seem to be behaving the same as always. I do no see any signs of pain: no extra chattering, drinking water excessively or crying when I hold them, but I’ll keep an eye as always. I will not separate them… I don’t think they can cope without each other, I will just encourage them to go to differ sides of the cage with their personal favourite hides and try to find out who is the culprit.
