Small White Spot on Eye?

Hi!

This morning I noticed a small white spot on my guinea pig's eye. It was not there yesterday. His behavior is totally normal. Could it be a hay poke? I called 3 vets and no one can see him until Tuesday. :/

Hi!

I would recommend that you have it vet checked. It could be the start of an ulceration if it is on the surface of the eye. (Difficult for me judge from your picture).

Got my vet to agree to a drop off appointment so I'm taking him there now.

Okay got back from the vet! It was a cut on his eye that was infected and yep a corneal ulcer. Yikes! Got some ointment and pain med for him.

Poor little fellow. Well done for getting him seen and getting the treatment for him. Hopefully it will heal quickly.

Thank you! I'm guessing it was a hay poke. I think I'll start picking out the sharper bits from the Timothy hay. I hate how sharp hay can be! Poor baby.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get ointment into a guinea pigs eye? Half the time I'm not sure if it gets in his eye or just around it.
