My girl has had a small sore next to her nose for about 3 weeks now. I first noticed the sore when it was bleeding, now it seems to scab up and then bleed again periodically. I don't know if it's just because she keeps scratching or if this could be something worse since it isn't healing. It's right around her whiskers, and it a slight raised bump. The size hasn't changed, and no sign of pus or discomfort. She is 3 years old- and we've only had her for about a month so she doesn't like being handled and it's hard to get a good look at it- I've attached the best picture I could get.

I'm a new piggy mom so I'm not sure if this is normal or something to worry about. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi!

It sounds like there is an area of major irritation that your girl is scratching open repeatedly. These kinds of wounds are generally self-inflicted.
However, we cannot comment on what could be causing it; especially as the angle of your photo isn't helping at all. It would however still only be a guess and not a diagnosis.

Fungal skin infections and parasites need different treatment, so treating on spec (especially with low dosed broad spectrum pet shop products) can do more harm than good as it can only temporarily suppress any symptoms.

Depending on your vet's findings, you can reclaim any vet cost from the pet shop if your piggy has come with a problem they have most likely picked up at the shop - provided you have seen them within the time limit the shop will cover.

You can find more information in this guide here. Do you have a single piggy or do you have a pair?
