So, My outdoor hutch is broken and one of the doors will not close, I’ve bought them inside to their indoor cage, however it is in the garage. I don’t want to keep them in there for more than a day because it’s dark and cruel. Having them inside the house is unfortunately not an option because my dog will tear them apart... 😅

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do in the meantime? I’ll struggle to get a new cage before Christmas...

How is the door broken ie can a repair even if it is only a short term fix be made/suggested?
If it isn’t the wire side, could you not just board up the entire door that is broken? It would mean you couldn’t get into that side but that may be a fairly easy albeit temporary solution to the problem?

I could possibly do that, I just need to find resources. The door that is broken actually is made almost entirely of wire, the only wooden parts are the frame

What part is broken? Sliding bolts are relatively cheap if it needs a new one. We boarded up a wire door once using left over tongue and groove from another project but you could look for an old pallet etc to use so long as you sand it down so its smooth. Try asking local businesses or free ad sites and usually there will be someone trying to get rid of one

Are there any second hand cages on eBay local ads that you could purchase cheaply. A good Disinfect with F10 and use instead? Or could family or friend have them until you get a new cage, ask for money for Christmas present to purchase a new cage (perhaps family and friend could give you it before hand)

I've looked online for a second-hand cage and asked for money for Christmas, we'll see what happens next

Yes, it's sliding bolt that is broken. I believe I could give that a try, though I'd need assistance attaching it to the cage, though I suppose I could find a video tutorial online

Fixing bolts on is very easy. Just unscrew the old one and screw the new one back on just a little higher than the original one was.
