Hi I was unsure of where to really post this but there have been loads of small flies in my guinea pig room! Does anyone else know about or have this problem?

My guinea pigs are kept in a small double bedroom they have a cage (which is cleaned every other day) it currently has sawdust not fleece.
And all that's in there besides their cage is
- toys and tubes
- dust pan and brush
- bag of pellets
- 3.5kg bag of hay
- small eating hay.

So there is nowhere for anything to be nesting really and it's kept hygenic I sweep up their poos and vacuum after floor time and the flys aren't coming in from outside because the windows been closed because it's cold and rainy here at the moment. Any ideas where they're coming from?

Hello, Sorry no idea.

Make sure all food is covered up and get fly swatting..... Hopefully you can be rid of them

get one of those electric fly zappers that lights up blue to attract flies and literally zaps them!

My flat is full of those at the moment too! Really tiny flies - I think they're fruit flies? I see you're in Lancashire, I'm in Manchester... so maybe there's a mini plague going on up here! Hoping they will disappear as the weather gets more and more grim. They don't seem to be flying around my pigs or buns much luckily, mostly around my kitchen ¬_¬

I moved to this bungalow in Feb of this year and I've had no end of little flies but I think it's from the garden, when it was strimmed/mowed we got less, but still get them. They never flew around the pets though.

As someone said above, there does seem to be more flies about.
