Slugs!

Hi

I have noticed slug trails in my guinea pigs cage, they are going in at night could this be harmful in any way and do you know how I could try and prevent this?

Usually they are going after food.
Make sure to keep the cage clean and don’t leave food (other than hay) in the cage for extended periods

Thankyou, their usual routine is to have pellets in the morning and then they have their vege at tea time so I'm wondering if I give them their vege earlier in the day if that will prevent it.

The other thing you could try is to split their veg portion into two and give some in the morning as well. It’ll mean each portion is smaller so shouldn’t hang around for any length of time

I had a problem with slugs when my piggies were outside. It helps to put copper tape around the legs of the hutch. NEMATODES for slugs are also brilliant. You can get them off Amazon. They are and environmentally friendly way to rid your garden on these slimy beasties.

Copper tape works well and very cheap to buy

Surrounding the hutch with sharp gravel helps too if it's possible.
