Has anyone observed a noticeable difference in the speed at which guineas chew their food? Mark my rescue guinea has a good munch on him but the speed with which he does it is SO much slower than my own pig. From observing them, I think he chews about 4 times slower than my own pig. Could slow chewing be an indication of teeth trouble? If it can be, I will ask them to check his teeth as he is due to go in on Friday anyway.
PS. He is recovering from a bladder stone so his energy levels might not be quite what they're meant to be. I would be interested to know if a slowed chew is normal for a recovering pig.
