Hello!

I've not posted in a long time but just wanted to ask a little question!

This week we took in 2 new boys from RSPCA. The RSPCA have said that they are 2 and 3 years old.

They seem pretty happy already...have taken food from my hand, played with toys and seem pretty content. RSPCA said they are loving boys who are happy being cuddled and handled.

However, the 3 year old seems to have been asleep about 90% of the time he's been here! I'm not used to this as all my other piggies (even my 3 and 4 year old boars) are full of beans and I hardly see them asleep. They're always running about, asking for food the second I walk in the room or charging around during floor time.

My husband thinks that it's because they feel safe, their home is cosy (large c&c surrounded by fleecy comfort!) and maybe after being pushed from pillar to post (family that gave them up, RSPCA, foster home) they finally feel they can relax! He certainly looks relaxed...he lays on his side, legs out stretched and snuggles his little head down!

Does anyone else have pigs this age that like to sleep or should I be concerned? They had all their vet checks with RSPCA before coming to us. I wonder if maybe they didn't have much space in their old home and didn't have much chance to run about?

Just wanted to be sure he's OK and just chilled out! He's the long haired agouti fellow on the right of the picture. Husband also says he may be exhausted from carrying all that hair around! 🤣

I’ve got three year olds who used to sleep quite a bit but not that much. I probably noticed it because they were so comfy with it. Maybe see how he is in a weeks’ time. If you’re really worried you could weigh him daily (at the same time) for a week and see how he is in that aspect.
