This may seem a daft question but do Piggies not generally sleep with their eyes closed? many times iv looked in on wallace n humf and thought they had passed away as they lay so still on their sides with eyes wide open ?/
They tend to sleep with their eyes open so they can keep an eye on you whilst they rest lol. Unless they are totally relaxed and feel that they can risk closing an eye.
Hi, I've also wondered the same thing. I did notice Maisy sleeping next to her hay last week and she seemed to be laying flat out, head slightly to the side and eyes CLOSED! I thought, ooh, she's sleeping. I called her, but nothing, I even gently touched her, but nothing (and normally, she's a terror to catch hold of to pick her up etc). So I called her again and she looked up all of a daze as if to say, hey, you've woken me up lol. I was frightened for a mo though, but she must have been very very relaxed to have gone off like that.
Oh good glad you asked as I was wondering too. Gertie does this all the time if she is asleep under the coffeee table, not sure about in her bed though as can't see.
All 4 of my piggies will sleep with their eyes closed while on my knee, and it always makes me smile when they do it because they are calm and feel relaxed enough with me to do it
