Hello everyone! Recently I have noticed Eddie is sleeping more than usual. He is still eating, drinking, pooping, getting excited for food etc. He now mostly only comes out in the evening, is this because of the heat? Our house is usually about 23 - 25 degrees Celsius. He is long haired and I cut his hair very short, is there any other things I can do to help him cool off? I tried giving him a frozen water bottle wrapped in fleece but he ignored it.
thanks!

You could put a tile in the cage. Otherwise maybe keep the curtains closed and window open where their cage is.

I don't know if this is necessarily a problem.

Guineas spend a lot of time napping anyway but they don't tend to have one long period of sleep like we do. If he's otherwise fine maybe he is just condensing his naps in the main part of the day and then having more active time in the evening/night/morning? I think ours do this.

I agree with @Siikibam. Try to make your piglet's room as cool as possible.
I believe that 18-23 degrees celsius is recommended for piggies by the RSPCA. 23-25 degrees is a little bit too warm for a piglet, especially a long-haired one. :)
I am sorry, I am not used to celsius!
Do you have any portable fans that you can put in the room? :)

As long as you position the fan at a good distance, I don't think your piggy would mind.
He might be bothered by the noise, though. :hmm:
Just make sure that the fan has no dust in it. :)

Yeah I am in Scotland but keep the windows open a crack during the night, the blinds shut during the day, and a cool towel..well I did it is back to rain now of course. Good wishes, I am sure they will be fine with a bit of a breeze and the frozen bottle in a towel method, that is what we do..was 28c outside last week..good grief..I think we have had our summer over here!

In the heat I have given mine freezer blocks wrapped in towels.
Some of the piggies ignored them but Merab used to love resting her head on one.
If you use a fan make sure it is on low and blowing away from the piggies.
