I have just had a look of all the pictures on the members hutch gallery to get ideas of what too put in their bedroom compartment to keep them warm at night during these coldish nights before summer finally comes and the nights are warmer. After going camping fairly recently when I had a blanket underneath me, an air bed, a quilt and a sleeping bag and I was still fairly cold it worries me how we can keep our piggies warm without overheating them. Just made me think I would hate them to be cold

Previously I put a smaller house inside their sleeping compartment when twiglet was on his own to keep the heat in and stuffed this with hay for him. However now because have recently paired twiggy up with Mr Red I have taken out the house and put newspaper on the bottom of the hutch then a layer of puppy pad, another layer of newspaper and then lots of hay. The problem is the hay gets trampled on and unless I get through a bale of the large Pets at home hay a week I don't see that the hay option can work long term. So could I consider putting in a fleecy snuggle or a snuggle tunnel or a fleece or continue too use hay? Please let me know what you guys use.

I use tons of hay with heatpads undeneath. I put a small blanket over the entry into the main section so that there wasn't so much of a draft. You could probably put tunnels etc in, but as your boys are only recently bonded you would need to have two, one for each. Sorry I can't be more help x

Hi Klee, do you still use the heat pads now? I did have a hutch cover over them but have recently taken this off and now have also put a fleece over the front of the hutch to keep the cold out.

I use them if it is still cold out. From personal experience I will always try and get the heat pads in now I have my rescue girls. When Rosie was younger ( and I was less educated) we didn't have heat pads just a cover over the hutch, and she has made it to 7. I would still make sure they have the fleec covering the hutch. For particularly wet, windy and cold nights you may want to consider putting the main cover over.
Hope that helps.
