My husbands grandad had been suffering from dementia for several years and it finally took him at the age of 93 in the early hours of this morning 😞 I’m feeling so sad and we came down to Nottingham to spend a few days with my mother in law and family today

Grandad drove our wedding car back in 2009 as he worked for a wedding service at the time and that’s how I’d like to remember him

Your fought so hard grandad and you will be greatly missed x x x

I’m so sorry Claire. Grandad will be looking down on you all restored back to his prime. Dementia is such a cruel disease. Sending you a hug and sympathies to your family.

I’m so sorry Claire and your hubby that you lost him. Treasure your memories of him in your special day. Dementia is such a horrible illness, take care x

So sorry to hear that you lost your grandfather. Dementia is a terrible illness.

Thinking of you and your family at this sad time.xx

Thank you for the kind comments ❤️ We came home this morning as we’ll be going back to Nottingham for the funeral and there’s nothing more we could do there

Both me and Chris feel a sense of relief that grandad is no longer suffering x

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. Sending you and Chris all good wishes as you prepare for the funeral.

I’m so sorry to hear about you and your husband’s loss. That memory of him driving your wedding car is beautiful. Hold onto it, and all the others you made before dementia took over.

All the best for the coming days and the funeral.

Well it was Grandad’s funeral today 😞 It was all very emotional but a lovely service and my husband did a speech on behalf of the 3 grandchildren which was lovely

We’ve just got home from the wake and then it’s going to be a quiet evening before me and my husband travel home tomorrow x

I'm so sorry for your loss claire. Working on a hospital ward specialising in Dementia care I understand how difficult and what an awful disease Dementia is.

I haven't been around for ages but always lovely to see familiar names when I jump back on.
