Right title may be misleading but i couldn't think of better because i'm shattered.

My two sows have become skittish with each other not us.

I have recently moved them into the shed because one of them is quite heavily pregnant so they are essentially in a new environment, the best i could give them in the shed was 3' x 5' which is smaller than they are used to but adequate i beleive (correct me if i'm wrong).

The pregnant one Lara is beautifully tame if i lay my hand out in the cage she is happy to walk onto it and come up for a fuss the non preg Amber is far too proud for this and will initially retreat but once up equally snuggly.

Since they have been in the new cage Amber has been exerting her dominance and pushing Lara around a little no actual fighting per say but its got to the point where they have to have 2 of everything and Amber always wants what Lara's got.

So now i don't know whether to leave them together, but am loathe to seperate them in case i can't pair them again after the birth.

Sorry for the long post but you can probably imagine how little sleep i'm having, i've been policing the shed at all manner of unsociable hours.

Any advice anyone, Amber seems to approach Lara from behind and nudge her bum with her nose and Lara just waddles away so it's not actual teeth bearing business but what might she do when bubs come, everything i've read suggests sows help each other but i'm worried

Maybe once Lara has given birth or starting to shows signs pop a smaller cage in the shed so she can be in there with her babies and still have contact with Amber? And then let them all out and in the same area together with supervision?
the bum pushing is a new one to me as when mine have a squabble there is head flipping and high pitched squeaking...
Maybe Amber is trying to tell Lara to get a move on and have them babies!:))

The bum nudgings new to me also, having boars i'm used to the usual signs, as for the hurry up and have them we all feel the same.My daughters and I were up the shed at quarter to six checking if fur babies had arrived:)

It could be just a dominance thing going on because of the move to the new cage.
Lara is obviously more laid back than Amber and her being pregnant could be affecting Amber. Piggies are very good at detecting changes and illnesses in their companions and perhaps Amber is confused.

Give them a little time to settle into their new home. Give them lots of nice things to eat to amuse them.

When are the mini-pigs due?

Not sure on due date, I've had Lara 9 weeks this week and initially beleived she was a boy so was housed with the boars for a few days.

As soon as i realised my mistake oh put up a petition and she was seperated, 2 weeks later we discovered much to our disbeleif our oldest boar on the girls side laying down looking spent he can obviously jump when need be.

Thus babies could be 1 or 3 weeks away i think she showing signs such as lack of appetite for some of her usual favourites but noshing grass like there's no tomorrow so we'replaying a waiting game

Aaaaw some piggies eh? My boar cant be bothered exerting himself for anything... rolleyes

At the moment he is sleeping on his side looking like he is dead... I had to check and see if he was breathing!

Good luck for the babies...!
