So one of my good favorite you tubers says that its ok to put skinny pigs can have sweaters on. I was wondering if u guys would confirm that it is not ok b/c i wanna prove her wrong
I’m pretty sure all guinea pigs hate any kind of clothing. It will definitely stress the skinny pig out, if nothing else, and the clothing could irritate their skin
It may look cute to some but you really shouldn't put clothes on guinea pigs. It is cruel and could hurt their delicate spines. If you need to keep a skinny pig warm, it's much better to give them a fleecy snuggle sack for them to snuggle down in and a snugglesafe.
A big no from me. You should never put skinny pigs in clothes. It can cause skin irritation. The would much rather have a fleece hidey or a snuggle safe pad to keep them warm. Really they need to be kept in a warm room at all times.
I don't agree with putting piggies in clothing either for the reasons above but I'm all for trying to educate and persuade others. If you go in all guns blazing to "prove her wrong" then you are not going to achieve anything and she certainly won't thank you for it
I think a big problem with clothing on animals like guinea pigs is that they can't choose to remove them if they become too hot or the clothes are irritating them.
They have no way of communicating their discomfort, whereas if they are offered various warm bedding options then they can use them if they need to and move away when they don't.
What a lot of people forget too with clothing is it can restrict their access to their cecal pellets too which they need to be eating, direct from their bums! Having them miss out on those essential vitamins can really impact their health.
