Hi,

I have an Abyssinian Guinea pig she’s 14 months old and she has had a little bald patch behind her ear since she was born, recently it’s gotten bigger and dry. I am wondering what this could be and any advice would be great.

Please see picture below.

Hi, I do not have any idea about what it could be so do not want to speak on that but it does look like it could do a vets diagnosis/check unfortunately.

I believe guinea pigs can somewhat suffer from dry skin but it could also be more serious so a vets check is best especially if this is something new.
All the best x

Thank you! I will check with the vets! x

They do have a symmetric, bald patch behind their ears but I would have that checked out. Hopefully it’s something simple to treat.

Hi

We cannot diagnose reliably just from a picture. Please see a vet. It could be a fungal skin infection. Please do not treat on spec at home.

Please compare the patch with the one behind the other ear; they are always the same but like human finger prints, always individually shaped.
