was looking through barney's coat last night and as i thought he would have he has got lice - freaking pet shops!

i also noticed that he has a little patch of redness on his back

does anyone know what this could be?

i think he is like a sickly pig just looks like he has a skin allergy or something.. i cant put my finger on it.

going to bathe them both tonight when i get hold of them so that we can get rid of these freaking licey things!

when my lot have had lice in the past, they got red patches from the amount of scratching they did.. could that be it on yours?

agree with Kelly. I recommend Gorgeous Guineas Lice and Easy shampoo. Really seems to work and the boys love it! Makes their coats so shiny! A bath helps to cool down sore skin too.

Definately have a look at the gorgeous guineas site - it will help you diagnose the problem. Skin trouble can be so many things - some of which can eventually become fatal if not treated properly. Fungal skin is pretty much the worst thing a piggy can suffer with but if caught early and treated properly it is easy to treat.

If you're unsure about what it is contact Gorgeous Guineas, they have a new Lice shampoo but if you think it may be fungal go for one that will deal with both, we use the shampoos and soaks on EVERY piggy here at the rescue. :)

I bathed them both in Johnstons lice and flea thingy majiggy and they seem MUCH happier now!

they not scratching as much and whatever lice were there are now dead and not moving.

will repeat the proceedure next week and that should get rid of the little !

I cant beleive that pet shops dont know about them!

That's great to hear! Pet shops don't know much about any animals they have, fair few do, but most only have animals to make money..

Kelly xx
