After losing my 4 year old piggie a couple days ago, I now have a 1 year old pig on her own. I am keen to get her a new friend asap but I am slightly worried I wont be able to because of Corona. What can I do to help her feel less lonely while I wait for a new piggie friend? I really want to ensure she is still happy. Thank you

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.

Bonding her with another piggy will not be possible at this time but you can contact rescue centres and get your details on their list to enable you to bond her once lockdown restrictions are eased.

In the meantime, keeping her occupied with enrichment ideas may help. These guides may help you.

I am very sorry for your loss! You are welcome to post a tribute in our Rainbow Bridge if it feels right to you, and at any point it does so.
Here is our grieving guide if you feel the need make sense of the emotions you are experiencing or would like to look for more resources or support: Human Bereavement: Grieving, Coping and Support Links for Guinea Pig Owners and Their Children

Sadly most rescues in lockdown are closed for adoptions right now. Good welfare standard rescues (sadly many aren't as anybody can call themselves a rescue without licensing or control) are the best place for your remaining girl to choose her own mate for a happy new relationship, whether that is another sow or a neutered boar. Age and gender come a long way behind mutual liking and character compatibility.
Here is the link to vetted and recommended rescues we can guarantee you are in safe hands. A link to rescues of the same stadnard in other countries is below the UK map. Rescue Locator

As long as your girl is eating and drinking, she is hopefully hanging in there until rescue dating and adoption are becoming available again. I would recommend to contact any rescues you can get to now.

Thank you very much. I will have a look at the locator. She seems to be doing fine at the moment, having cuddles 4 times a day and lots of attention from me and my family.

I'm very happy to say that I got lucky! A lady in my small rural village bred some pigs before the lockdown and she was trying to find them homes. We picked up a new baby girl today strictly following the social distancing guidelines. I looked on your map for rescues but the nearest one was 3 hours away! I have 2 pigs now in the middle of bonding and it's going well so far :)

All the best!
