My Guinea pig was diagnosed with uti yesterday given antibiotics and pain meds today she is breathing heavy and very restless what should I do

You have to give the antibiotics time to kick in. However, if you think she’s going downhill then go get her checked out.

Please switch to weighing her once daily (preferably mornings) so you can monitor her weight. If needs be you can top her up to help her maintain. I also forgot to say that some people give their piggies probiotic 1-2 hours before or after the antibiotic dose.

Have a look at the link below for recommended vets. I hope your girl starts feeling better soon.

Please contact the vet clinic. Has your piggy got a respiratory infection (URI) or a urinary tract infection (UTI)?

Be aware that antibiotics don't work instantly; they take several days to build up to optimal efficiency. If your piggy is continuing going downhill before they can kick in or doesn't react to them, you need to speak to your vet asap.

All the best!

PS: Please note that the Care sections are there for any questions and support and that the Chat sections are there to talk about your piggies and everything else.
