Hi everyone,

First time posting here so I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this thread but one of my 5 year old boars (Ozzy) is currently undergoing treatment for a suspected UTI, my other boar (same age) has started chasing & mounting Ozzy more than usual and I think the stress of it isn’t helping Ozzy’s problem, I don’t know if this changes anything but sometimes it isn’t until Ozzy starts making the noise whilst peeing that he is mounted. They have a full room to run around in with various hides/beds so that isn’t an issue. Does anyone have any ideas what this behaviour could be?

Thank you in advance.

I’m sorry to hear he is unwell.

Is Ozzy the dominant piggy?
Sometimes when the dominant is poorly the submissive can try to take charge

Ozzy is the submissive one, I separated them for an hour or so last night to give Ozzy a break and thankfully things seem to have calmed down but we’ll see how today goes.

I hope he is ok

You don’t want to carry out separations too much - it can be detrimental to them.

Is Ozzy on painkillers and antibiotics?

I will keep that in mind, I only did it as it was very persistent last night.

He was prescribed Baytril and Metacam and I’ve been giving him barley water to try and help soothe the pain.
