Hi i have an 8 year old female been with me her whole life. She has allergies and seems she caught a bad ear/sinus infection. Doctor gave me antibiotics because she clear has snot coming out of her nose and eyes were all kinds of gross. That was yesterday. I cleaned her face off with a warm wet towel the last two days whenever i see her getting dried boogers blocking her nose. Today she’s barely eaten and with her being older I’m afraid even a day or two of light eating could allow this to kill her. I know she’s not ready yet she has been steady tryna get up and move and she’s got up to drink a minute ago finally. Shes not pooping or peeing from what i can tell so I’m worried she’s been eating light longer than i realized. I don’t have a car so i can’t run to different stores looking for critical care, I ordered some but it won’t be here until Saturday. I worry that will be to late and this is what she needs. I’m about to pull out my blender and syringe feed her but if anyone has suggestions plz help! My vet didn’t even know about critical care

Please use her normal pellets - this is the emergency alternative. Mush them up with water and syringe the mush to her. You will need to cut the end off of a 1ml syringe to get pellet mush to go through it.
A piggy who isn’t eating hay independently needs the fibre from the critical care or mushed pellets (when critical care isn’t available). Blended vegetables will not replace the hay fibre.

Please ensure you switch from routine weekly weight checks and instead weigh her daily while she is unwell and so you can be sure she is getting enough pellet mush/critical care in each 24 hour period to keep her weight stable.
Poop output is 1-2 days behind food intake so isn’t a reliable method and does usually mean a piggy hasn’t been eating properly for longer.

The guide below explains further

Thank you so much this may save her life. How many ml of wet food do you think i should give her? She’s very weak and not holding her head up ive had her on the couch with a nice blanket and giving her a couple ml every fee hours. I don’t wanna stress her out or make it worse and sometimes i feel shes not swallowing it at first so i have to go really slowly. She’s still trying to get up she’s got fight left in her. I pray she makes it until the critical care gets here tomorrow. I just don’t want her to die like this, i wanted it to be of old age in her sleep or something 😭😭😭

thank you again!

Thank you everyone for the kind words we are still trying. our dog is invested as well she hasn’t left her side and sits under the cage and stares up whining at her. She’s gonna be loved till the end.

here are also two pictures of her back when she was a big sister to two babies i rehabilitated. They had genetic issues and both died around 4 years old. She’s lived a full life 🥲

How many ml depends entirely on her daily weight checks. You need to feed as much as is necessary so she doesn’t lose weight day to day.
This is to get as close to 60ml, or in excess of if possible, in each 24 hour period. A minimum of 40ml is needed.

The guide I linked in earlier explains everything but I have linked it in again below now

I hope your piggy is ok. 8 is a great age and shows just how much you care for her. Good luck. 🤞
