Hello! Since I first got my piggy awhile ago, she's always lived in my bedroom, and she's very comfortable there.

Yesterday I decided to move her cage out in the livingroom where there's more interactions/traffic that would make her happier.

Well now she's (In her SAME cage and everything) just as nervous and shy as if I just got her!

Can anyone please tell me why? And how long she'll be like this, like not as long as when I got her (took her about a week)?

Thanks! :)

Piggies don't like big changes but they do eventually get used to them. My Hazelnut went through 2 different rooms & 3 different cages in his first 7 months. I had taken him on because I feared for his life but at that point knew next to nothing about guinea pigs. So, all the changes were to better his situation as I learnt what piggies need. With each change he took less & less time to adjust. So long as you are interacting with her as often as you did before, your piggy will learn the change poses no threat to her.

Just give her time - and if you can eventually a companion to help bring her out. If you wish, you can cover part of the cage with a fleece or beach towel to make her feel more protected and to entice her out. Building up trust in a single piggy can be a long process, but it is worth it.
