Hi all,

So I know its normal for the GP to wheek loudly for their food but One of my sows lets out a ear piercing shriek at dinner time. She's done this a couple of times and I'm just wondering if this normal, scares the bejeezus out of me.

So I know its normal for the GP to wheek loudly for their food but One of my sows lets out a ear piercing shriek at dinner time. She's done this a couple of times and I'm just wondering if this normal, scares the bejeezus out of me.

My Telyn did have a truly ear piercing food wheek - it was literally a matter or life and death for her when she was a dramatic and vocal youngster!

Her name means "Harp" in Welsh. She got it for that and the fact that she had a very loud voice anyway and just could not shut up whenever she was excited... Not even when the lead boar gave her a swipe because he couldn't sleep!

Aww, we all love deafening food squeals. The boys can be incredibly noisy, not always short wheeks, sometimes it is a screech. I walked in when their hay rack was empty once and my poor ears...
They know when it's lunchtime too. Cheeky hoglets
