It's suppossed to be quite cold here tonight I'm giving the girls extra stuff to keep them toasty warm :)). They will be moving inside very soon but at the moment we have no room for them so it will take us a while to clear a space in the garage to put the hutch! Anyway I was wondering whether it would be ok for me to stuff their bedroom area with shredded paper topped with hay? By paper I mean just plain white a4 paper. Would this be ok?

It would be ok, but you need to replace shredded paper daily really, it will end up flat where they lay on it, also it will soak up all of their wee etc and stay rather wet, especially in the cold conditions, Do they have a cover over their hutch?

Ok thanks! They would only have the paper over night, I would remove it in the morning. :)) Yes they do have a tarpaulin cover which keeps the rain off and doesn't let drafts in. :)) Would it be better just to use hay rather than paper as well?

To be honest i would say hay all the way! LOTS AND LOTS of hay! And an old duvet under the tarpaulin.

My boys are indoors and I just stuff their bedrooms with hay to keep them nice and toasty. You can get pet safe heat pad which are pretty clever and stay warm for ages as well.
