I use a layer of newspaper and then shredded paper for my bedding, my husband shreds it a work...Do any of you use it and if so what do you think?
I'm thinking of getting a fleece, but I'm not convinced surely it get really smelly and wet quickly...what do you think? Your oppinions please??/?/ Thanks lin

I know of one member who uses shredded paper between two layers of newpaper and then has fleece on top.

As you can get cheap fleece from £1-2.50 upwards, I think it is worth a trial!

fleece doesn't actually smell bad! with my two girls I can have them in it for about a week before the fleece starts smelling but I do a change of the bedding before the weeks up because the newspaper and hay always smells more quickly and much worse than the fleece. It's really worth looking into using fleece is works a charm and looks gorgeous. It's not for everyone but it's worth a try. However the convenience of the shredded paper is also really good. I suggest you use shredded paper in the kitchen area. They'll do most their droppings there so the fleece won't look spoiled so I thin it's a win win that way. if you end up hating the fleece just go back to paper. if it's working for you then that's all you need!

I use newspaper & shredded paper for my ladies, they love it! I just do a full cage clean every 3 days usually. The cage gets messiest in the corners but thankfully they seemed to have learnt to keep their little house fairly clean!
I too get the shredded paper from work, people look at me funny with my bin bags full of paper on the bus home! Ha ha!

Shredded paper is fine, and it's good for anyone (or any pig) with allergies. :)

You could try fleece out, but whatever works for you is fine.

If you use fleece then I would still keep some shredded paper or hay in one area that they guinea pigs can burrow into and bury themselves in :) They seem to love that.
