Should the pups have a heat pack because it is so cold?

I know many people don't approve of this, but my guineas live outside. Believe me, if I could have them inside I would, but it's just not possible for a few reasons. When I am older and have my own place I want to have them inside :) Anyway...

We have four day old accidental pups at the moment, and we have been keeping them inside as we have been at our holiday house. Tonight is their first night outside in the hutch. They have their mum and my other female piggy, but I'm still not sure that they'll be warm enough! So, do you think I should put a heat pack out there with them? Or bring them inside? Or just trust that Mama can keep them warm enough? Or give them lots of towels to snuggle up in?

Thanks so much!

I would give them a heat pad, but can't the pups stay in for a bit longer, the shock of the outdoors could really upset them.

Hmm yes maybe I should bring them in. I'm just worried about the space, as inside they only have a small-ish box and the other female is rather large. Confused :S!

OK I think I will bring them in :) I like having them inside with me anyway!

I think you should bring them in for a little while longer, but when you make the transition to the great outdoors maybe you could purchase a vet bed to put in their hutch? It will just give them the extra warmth that they may need.

Aww glad you are keeping them in, I would say about 6 weeks they can live outside. I wouldn't put them out any younger. :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I have brought them inside and they are scurrying around in a box next to me with food, water and privacy! Sorry, but what is a vet bed? Is it some sort of cozy? Because I would like to get them one of them :)

do you have anything you could cover the front of the hutch with, like plastic sheeting, so they're not exposed to any drafts?

Vet bed, is a fleecey lining that can be cut off in metres quite often. Are you in the UK? Pets@Home Sell it.
