Hi all,

As some of you may know I have Mali and Aspen my bonded male and female both around 1 year old.

We have seen this wee baby girl on the SPCA website.. soooooo cute! She is 10 - 13 weeks old and she was found as a stray :(

Newbie.webp Do you think I should see about adopting her?

Will Mali and Aspen accept a baby?

We have a 5ft x 4ft cage so it should be big enough to provide another rescue piggy a home....

She does look lovely. Would they allow you to take Mali and Aspen in to see if they all get along.

Aww what a beautiful girl. There is no reason for you not to try her with your pair and see if they get along. You can ask the rescue if you can bring your little ones to meet her.

Oh she is a sweetheart I can see why you have fallen for her. Poor thing thank goodness she was found.

What a little sweetie! She looks a bit like my Papi.

At that age, I would think they will accept her as she is not threatening the existing hierarchy, but if you can date her with your couple, it would be so much better!

What you need to think about when trying to form a trio is what are you going to do if you end up with an outsider problem of some sort? A neutered boar/two sows trio relies very much on the two sows getting on well to be a long term success. Unfortunately, the outcome depends very much on the individual character constellation so there is no hard and fast rule.
Trios are great when they are working, but they can give you sleepless nights like no other grouping when they don't, as they are the trickiest constellation to get right. I have and have had trios that work and those that didn't.

I looked at her on web she is lovely though I fancy erica and peaches. Good luck.

20 foot would accomodate 4 piggies if you decided on a quartet then you avoid the trio problem.I would go for it she is loveky

She is gorgeous! I can't believe she was a stray...in the sense she could survive such a situation. Glad she was rescued. I probably wouldn't turn her down...but then again I ended up with a failed boar trio. I kept all 3 but poor piglet has to be behind a barrier so george doesn't attack him. Fortunately Piglet and Roger still get along so they have free range time together.

Poor little thing, she must be a real survivor! I had a female trio and it worked out brilliantly. Similar to you, established pair, just over a year old and I put in an 8 week old girl. They bonded immediately. I think it does depend on their characters but in my experience introducing babies to a pair or settled group is much better than introducing a mature female who may well be seen as a threat to the hierarchy.

Good luck, I hope it works out! X
