I have posted before about the problems I have with my four girls, basically (to recap) Pigwig had 2 baby girls and was separated for a short while from her friend Pompom to give the babies a better chance of survival (one was just 45g) anyway - re-introductions did not go well, Pompom is very dominant (we say she is a Peruvian Paris Hilton Diva-pig :))) and attacked and bullied the other girls especially Pigwig and now lives alone. 8...

I have been wondering about whether or not introducing a neutered male to them as a group might help them get along? I read on another thread that male piggies act as a calming influence on a group of females? Is Pompom more likely to accept a male as a companion? If it didnt work out then Pompom is destined to a life alone (and she is still only about 8 months old!) but the male could still live with the 3 girls.. (or with Pompom if she accepted him) Is it worth a try? I am going to need to buy new hutch/run soon because the lower floor of the double hutch is going to be soon outgrown by 3 adult piggies! ( I had to take the ramp out and seal up the hole to keep them seperate) I want to have one last shot at getting them all together as a herd .. before I know whether to buy a very large pen/ hutch for them all or just another seperate home for Pompom!

I have a neutered male and neither of my females will accept him. I think it maybe worth a try though the rescue centres will help you find the right male for your girls and at least with a rescue if it doesnt work out they will have him back. x

You will find that difficult, dominant girls won't accept a male, either. I would strongly recommend to boar date at the rescue with your girls - or at least, with the problem girl. Any trouble will usually show straight away in the initial "acceptance" phase.

I am sorry for your trouble. I is not that rare that a pregnant mum won't like other piggies afterwards.

We just had a similar case in Cheylesmore rescue where very young mum Baby Girl attacked her 8 week old daughter Poppy really badly and is now - very happily! - on her own with lots of human cuddles.
