My friend has a male guinea pig she is not properly taking care of and she doesn’t want him anymore, I might take him but I don’t think he can live with my 2 males because that could go bad and I don’t know if I really have space for 2 more guinea pigs but I don’t want her to bring him back to petco like she said she will so should I try to just get him a new cage and find him a cage mate? He is in desperate need of being rehoused his cage mate got killed when her brother was holding him and “got scared from lightning” and squized him and he died and he “didn’t mean to” so I think that’s a horrible place for a guinea pig to live

It’s lovely that you want to help but I think only you can answer the question.

He cannot live in the same cage with your two boys. So you would have to keep him in a separate cage which would have to be next to your piggies cage. That would enable side by side interaction.
You wouldn’t have to get him a friend as side by side interaction with your pair is enough, but in an ideal situation you would bond him with another piggy (but that of course means you then need two 180x60cm cages).

Taking him in temporarily while you find a rescue shelter to take him is an option. Of course you would still need two cages, and you would then have to find a rescue who has space to take him in.

I will definitely try to make space to have him temporarily because the current cage he is in it not big enough also she doesn’t care for him well at all and he deserves a better home

Go for side by side living and get him away from his situation firstly, he will be so much better off with you. You can then decide on a later date about his future. Good luck! Let us know how you get on

Good on you for wanting to rescue him!
I don't know if you use them but the huge advantage of C&C grid systems (as well as being so affordable) is the ability to add a "guest annex" as long as you have space.
Yea, I will make space to take him in temporarily at least and I will probably try to find him a new home eventually

I know some people who have a guinea pig in horrible conditions, tiny cage, not cleaned out enough, no hideys etc. I want to take him but the best I can manage is getting them to accept "spare" quality pellets (they buy whatever is cheapest), forage (never given) and hay (they limit it because it's too expensive to let him have too much)
I have the spare grids ready and waiting as well as the plan for rearranging the current layout. I offered some grids but they are quite happy with his cage and think my boys are living in luxury!

I feel guilty for not having done the same in a similar situation. That was brave of you, thank you for giving him a loving home!
