I was in Pets At Home today picking up a few things and I noticed the Bluebell hutch was on offer for £75. I was wondering, people who have this hutch already, what you think of it? How well it's lasted over time?

I have 2 boys in a temporary hutch just now as I hadn't planned on having them outside at all and I was going to get a bigger hutch and was just going to get single tier hutch rather than a double as I know some pigs won't use ramps so felt pointless getting a 2 tier hutch. But seeing the Bluebell hutch for £75 has got me wondering if I should get that?

It's a good job these piggies are cute as they've cost a small fortune in changing cages so much!

If I'm honest I have one and it's awful, I got it on offer too (as £90 though so now I'm upset! :)))

It's awfully flimsy and tbh I wish I'd bought a Great And Small hutch as a friend has one for her rabbit and it's super sturdy. More expensive of course but it's a thousand times stronger than the one I have.

Again if I'm honest, I have an indoor cage that I made myself in the end. Our winters are too cold for them to be outside so it's a lot better for them and me :D

To be honest, I think I was only tempted by the price. I almost bought it at full price but decided to hold out for a good, single hutch but seeing it on offer today made me rethink! I'll probably just leave it and keep waiting for a decent one that will last.

I would recommend boyles pet housing. Their stuff is brilliant and built to last.

I was tempted by price too, it's the P@H mind games! Stay strong my friend :))

I am guilty of falling for this when I got the piggies. It was on offer and I didn't have the time I wish I had to make my own .

I would not say that this hutch is good enough for outdoors , I'm keeping mine indoors.

Some bits are puzzling , like the ramp, which I've had to upgrade with non-slip material because a) high risk of them getting injured especially when descending and b) the slippery wood made them not want to use it.
Now that it's fixed they go up and down and embark on high energy runs !

I've had to line the floors and sides with waterproof material or you can kiss goodbye to the wood before you can say "but..."

I know it's not the best , I'm nonetheless determined to make it a palace for my piggies , considering it is indoors it will probably last for quite a while so I'll try to make the best out of what I have.

If you're looking to place this outside , I'd probably say avoid !
