Matilda pig that is. She never seems as if she likes Minnie much. She adored her Meggie (and she was quite keen on old Morphy) but Minnie is just ignored.

Tonight when I was getting them out of the run to put to bed, Matilda shot past me into the garden. She hates going to bed and is trustworthy in the garden as she always comes back to her run (I never take my eyes off her though). Minnie decided to have a wander too, but as soon as she realised she couldn't see Matilda she started to scream and squeak. Bless her, Matilda came back to her.

So she does care after all, she just hides it well.

Mathilda may make it clear that Minnie is no mere replacement to her old friend, but that doesn't mean that they aren't bonded and care about each other!

Do you think so? I sometimes feel a bit sad for both of them. I had never had a girl partnership before, always wives for Maurice, but then I needed a replacement for him quick and all I could get was 6 week old Matilda pig. I wasn't sure how it would work, but Meggie loved her and the feeling was mutual. They used to lay with their heads touching. Meg was so gorgeous, so gentle and it still makes me want to howl when I think about losing her. When she died I laid her in the hutch so Matilda could see and Matilda sniffed her, ran to the other end of the hutch and let out this awful squeal.

I thought she would be lonely so again, in haste got another baby girl, and I don't think Matilda has ever forgiven either me or Minnie.

She just ignores her most of the time, they don't sleep together, but I am hoping the cold weather will force that issue. There is only one hay filled igloo after all.

Of course she then had Morph, who she loved, although not sure she wasn't a little to much for him, and now she only has Minnie again. Cue more sulking.
