i got a shed about 6-7 months ago and I’ve just started battling ringworm again :( thing is my shed is wooden and how am I supposed to try and get fungal spoars out of it? The wood won’t dry if i soak it? It’s making things difficult. I was going to insulate it but unsure wether it’s worth it or save up and get one of those metal/plastic sheds? Or will it still keep happening? I have a fair few piggies x if I do insulate the shed what wood would you reccomend using when I put the insulation materials in? also I’ve been told if I use yacht varnish ringworm can’t cling to the wood as it acts as a barrier? Is this true? I’m looking for ways to improve everything for my piggies x

Not sure about the varnish/“ orb ringworm issue but please don’t get a plastic or metal shed - they get very very cold in winter and very very hot in summer!

I used Celotex boards to insulate my shed and would use ply board over the top so poggies can’t eat the Celotex (and it looks a bit nicer!)

I use thermal spaceblanket insulation with heavy duty 12mm plywood over it. I dont know about varnish as the fumes could be dangerous to the piggies, I'd search for a pet safe anti fungal wood stain. ;)

I'm watching this thread with interest as I've just had a new shed built and the walls are not " washable " . I'm wondering what I'd do if I had a ringworm breakout.
These easiest solution for me would be to move my guineas out of the shed and get it fumigated. - Has anyone heard of anything suitable to fumigate for ringworm that is safe for guinea pigs ?

Ringworm is bloody horried :( I seem to wonder if it’s beacuse of where I live I live in the middle of nowhere in the countryside. I love having the piggies in the shed but I feel like i have so much of a battle with it every few months :( i maybe feel if it’s damp in the shed it may conterbute to the ringworm? Thing is the wood don’t feel damp or anything but the air is this time of the year I’ve been thinking of why it’s come back x I feel like I’ve had one hell of a week I’ve lost one of my girls and now ringworm has reared it’s head again :(

Have you got electricity in the shed for a heater?

For washable walls how about PVC wall cladding?

I haven’t got electricity in the shed I’m not aloud it :( it’s not my house I live in it’s my partners nan I pay rent and stuff but I haven’t got any money extra to pay her for Extra costs towards the bill I normally stuff lots of hay for them to snuggle in I still feel it’s to cold for them x the wall cladding is a brilliant idea I’ll have a look into it :D thankyou :)

I’ve found these on a diffent site but seems so cheap? I’m lining a 10x6 ft shed! x

I’m going to change the thickness of it I think 2mm is to thin x

Hiya, sorry Hope you don’t mind me asking but just thought I’d ask as you seem to be in the know....upon reading your posts on other threads I had a look at insulated plywood. Which thickness would you be inclined to go for? I don’t want it to be roasting in warmer months but equally don’t want them to be freezing in winter - they will have lots of hay, fleecy hides and wooden shelters too though....

I'd be more inclined to go for a middle of the range board, so you've got insulation but not too much. 👍
