Hi i was thinking of buying a shed and transfering all the piggies into that. I have 40 at the min, most being rescue ones waiting for their forever home. What sort of hutches do you rescues use in your shed. Was thinking of getting the stacks of breeders ones(taking out the divide so will be 4 foot). Not sure to do that or to put the hucthes i have in, just think a few won't fit in.

Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks

we have 2 sheds, one 6x4 and one 7x5...each has four levels inside about 18" high,we used 8ft x 2ft loft boards, cut down to fit giving each level the width of the shed 4ft & 5ft x 2ft with the excess board used to make outside extentions so the animals can get in and out of the sheds if they wish...we built an aviary type front between both sheds and it has a solid roof to protect them from the weather.

I do say i would only put 4 guineas in the 5ft levels and 3 in the 4ft ones but i guess that could change at any time.

Allan's shed is great - and purpose built!

I've got a 8' x 6' shed and wish I'd bought a bigger one - the pigs have lots of room, but I don't! It's quite cramped trying to clean them.

I've posted pics before, but I have a block of 12 hutches, 4 levels of 3, but the dividers come out. The bottom row becomes part of the big sow pen. I then have a block of 6 hutches on one side for rescues.

If you're going to put them in the shed you need to consider quarantine space as this needs to be apart from the others i.e not in the shed.

These sheds sound amazing! I'm moving house soon, and will be redo-ing my shed Any change of some Pics?

I have two 8 by six shed really wish I had 8 by 8's LOL the sows and neuter boars sheds has a breeder block at one end with the dividers taken out so it makes 4 approximately 5ft (a bit over) hutches that it on the end wall then I have a stack of three 4ft by 2ft hutches on the left as you go in it makes wnough room for a bit of storage in there.

In the boys shed I have hucthes stacked on both sizes a bit like a galley shed, it works well for one person but is a bit of a squeeze when clering out with a 2ft is galley in the middle but at least the single boys have plenty of other piggies to look at. I much prefer the girls shed layout but with so many boys would not have room for as many if I laid it out the same way.

I quarantine indoors or have outdoor hutches away from the sheds in which to put new arrivals.

I do love Alans shed it is so great in the ways you can use the space you have and the indoor outdoor arrangements are super! (Beats lugging 50 odd piggies into the grass runs every day. LOL)

thank you sophie and vikki for the comments regarding our set up here, for those interested click on the pics below, hopefully they might show whats what.
