hi so i have three boars who live in a hutch in their 8x4 shed. they have a run in their shed also and an outdoor run for the summer. but i dont think they really have enough space and so i am looking to expand it so they have the whole shed to run around in. so i have a few questions about it:
- firstly, if anyone has a shed set up similar to what i want it would be great if you could post some pics and explain where you got materials, costs, how you made it etc.
- i dont want it to be very expensive or hard to make - we are not great at diy inbreeding... something like c&c.. do people use it in sheds? what could i use thats easy and cheap?
- i also want to use something thats really easy to clean. eg i dont mind spot cleaning once or twice a day but i would only want to do a proper clean once a week. i currently use megazorb and i think its great and i can get away with only one clean per week. but i think it would cost a lot to fill the whole shed with it. would puppy pads work? how often would i need to change them?
- i would love to use fleece but my mum is a hygene freak and hates the idea of putting used piggie fleece in the washing machine :p infact she even hand washes all of their fleece cozies and stuff every week because she hates it so much mallethead are there any alternatives that dont need to go in the wash?
-would it be warm enough in the winter? obvs in the hutch its really cozy with all their houses and heat pads and beds etc and the whole hutch is insulated and they have a hutch cover and everything. plus i am allergic to hay so instead they have to have hay cookies. so i use lots of fleece beds etc instead and they are fine but i am worried it will be hard to keep warm?
-finally, as their run is currently in the shed, if they had the whole shed then there would be no room for a run. would an 8x4 shed be big enough for 3 boars without a run? if you get what i mean..
sorry its so long, you dont have to answer everything but any help is appreciated. thanks!

Hey :) so am i correct in thinking you just want to have the hutch and the shed space and no run in there and just use the run for outside? and you are wanting to convert the shed space so it is suitable for the piggies:) ? I have a shed myself you see but if i know what you want to do with yours first it helps :)xx

hi sorry for not being clear
basically i want to take out the hutch and give the pigs the whole floor space of the shed and/or make levels and stuff like that.
so i am not really sure how to make it, what to use for the floor, just how to make it work basically
and if * have any pics of your set ups it would be really appreciated!x

oh and, if i make the cage the whole shed, then i wont have room for a run and it will be too cold in the winter for them to be in the outside run. so in the summer i will put them outside but would the shed be big enough for 3 pigs so that i wouldnt need to give them floor time in the winter?

No you were all good with your info that was just some things i was wondering about :) Well it sounds good and i assume by 8x4 * mean 8ft by 4ft so to me that is more than enough room for your three piggies :) Well my piggy hut doesn't have self built areas in it i just have the hutches that they can access along side it if you see what i mean and i will try and upload some pics for you tomorrow :) But the flooring i have used is self adehisive tiles from B n Q

I managed to find mine in a charity shop that were unused however my other friend who also has a piggy shed bought hers from here :) My whole shed has these down they are really easy to clean each week and i dn't now if you currently use sawdust but i use sawdust on mine :) And also just do what suits you but so aslong as they have sufficient running space for all weathers :) hope *** helps and maye also trying looking in the housing section of the forum and people may have put other suggestion that may help:) x
