Hi everyone! My girls are Tonkotsu and Miso. Today after floor time I was putting Tonky back in her cage and she jumped out of my hand from about 4 feet up! I caught her by her back legs and very quickly readjusted and she didn’t scream or anything. I’m so worried that I hurt her. She’s moving around just fine, which is why I’m writing this and not on the way to the vet, but I’m so worried! I thought that I had a good hold on her. Does anyone have advice to make sure her legs are okay and/or advice on how to hold her when I’m putting her away?

Hopefully she is ok but I would suggest a vet check just to be sure

It’s safest way to move them is by putting them in a carrier or enclosed hidey. That way there can’t be any blind jumps

Hi and welcome!

If she is showing signs of limping, please see a vet.

Please have a look at this guide link here (with videos); it prevents blind jumping and accidents: How To Pick Up And Weigh Your Guinea Pigs Safely

I would recommend taking her to a vet to be safe. My mumen jumped out of my arms and I thought he was fine. he showed no sign of pains but when at the vet an X-ray showed he had damaged his spine :(

Update: I haven’t taken her to the vet because she isn’t limping at all and is fine standing on her back legs to stretch for treats, etc. I’ll keep an eye out and ask the vet at our checkup in a week! :)
