Shavings Vs fleece

At the moment I'm using wood shavings in my C&C cage but i really want to change to fleece! Most people ive seen have a "Toilet area", my cage isnt huge! its 2x3 and i have 2 piggies. i am aware that giving them as much space as possible is best but thats all that will fit in my room. I make sure they go in their run on the grass as often as possible and they have floor time every day. They are happy and popcorning, I'm just wondering how you can have a "toilet area" without it getting all over the fleece? :/ Any help?

If you make a 1x2 loft on another level and put all their hay and food there, they will spend a lot of their time up there. If you put a folded up hand towel along the ramp then that should catch most of the shavings before they get down to the ground level where the fleece is. I haven't tried this myself, but I know it works for a lot of cavy slaves
