I am changing my two guinea pigs to fleece in a c&c cage (I have the grids, just need the correx) I brought them in today on the fleece and because they were jumping in and out of there litter tray the shavings soon spread. And they were a right pain to shake off. Is there something better I can use as litter in there litter tray that won't cause as much mess.

I would recoment pampers disposable baby changing mats. About £4 for 12 in tescos. I'm using them instead of newspaper under my towel and fleece. Ive found it makes it last twice as long! And as they have the "dry to the touch" effect like fleece, and can be cut to size, i dont see why they wouldnt work as a litter tray.

Alternativly, you could use newspaper with cheap quality hay on top if you want the burrowing effect. :)

Thanks, I may look into the pads and see if that'll work. Wanna keep up with litter tray, today there was only wee's in the litter tray and no where else ! :)

Yes, i have inadvertantly (definatly not planned) got my piggies peeing in one box, they seem to like peeing on the newspaper as opposed to fleece. :)

Depending on the size of your litter tray you may even get two out of one pad. This would make it nice and cheap, and i find they cut down on the smell so! :)

Thanks I will pop to the shops later and see what I can find :)

Sainsburys have them for £2.74 at mo, save a 3rd or something ;)

Thanks. I had heard but the sainsburys near me isnt big enough to stock them!

I use a new product it is paper pellets, called breeder celect, 100% recycled and safe and doesn't make a mess

Thanks but I have actually given the wood pellets a go and so far so good. I was worried about just placing the pad in the litter tray in case they ate it, arn't they gel filled ?

They very well may be. I hadnt thought of that as mine are under fleece! However they have never attempted to eat it.
