I understand ever pig is different but what's the average settling in phase?

They still bolt into their hideys and won't let me pick them up, they'll eat out my hand and come upto me if I lay on the floor during their floor time but they're still quite skittish.

There is no average period I’m afraid. It all depends on their personality. Do bear in mind that taking food from your hand means they trust you.

Not wanting to be picked up is very normal. Most piggies don’t like it as it cuts close to their prey instinct.

I’ve had a piggy here for…maybe six months or so. Up to now he is still pretty skittish. He will usually run to the other side of the hutch when I go give them their dinner etc. He also struggles quite a lot when I’m holding him.

Try talking when you’re approaching their cage so you don’t approach like a predator. Also only go as far as they’ll let you. If you keep in mind they will likely never like being picked up or touched then anything else will be a bonus.
