We took wendy to the vet on wednesday as she was passing a little blood. The vet gave us septrin and i've ben giving her 2ml a day as prescribed but today she has seemed a bit puffed up. Thye have just finished their veggies and i picked her up to give her the medicine and she seems really bloated :'(

Can septrin cause this? She has had a little bit of bloat a while back and we gave her some infacol as advised on the forum and she went down quite quickly. Can i give her infacol again or is that not advisable at same time as septrin?

She is on septrin as she had problems with baytril after a water infection a year ago, she completely went off her food on baytril, it seems like she has a very sensitive tum. Is there anything i can give her?

Nope just an answer machine message :(
I cant decide if i'm just being paranoid. She doesnt look huge just a bit bigger than normal. Do you think it might be because she has just eaten?

could be keep an eye on it. Now of my piggies have ever had bloat so i couldn't give you advice. xx

I'm not sure baout the poo's ecause she's win with another piggy. Her tummy is soft and squidgy.
She seems happy enough now, jsut let them out for a run and she's running about like crazy as usual...

It is quite safe to give Infacol as well as Septrin. I have never known Septrin to cause bloat, but it is just possible of course, especially as she was sensitive to Baytril.

As another member has already advised you,it would be best to speak to a vet because bloat is a serious condition.

Thanks for your help. she seems to have gone down alot now. To be honest i think i may have just been panicking, worrying about her because they baytril made her so poorly last time. Dont want to lose my little sunshine. i'm keeping a beady eye on her though and if any more problems she'll be straight back to the vets.

:'( :'( :'(

More bloat. The vet says ok to give her infacol and stop the septrin as she has stopped passing blood. He asked if she was eating - which i'm having problems monitoring as she lives with another piggy - offered her some carrot but she wouldnt have any :(

Just spotted her nibbling some hay though :)
Not sure how much infacol to give her ... i did a search of the forum and found something saying 1ml.. how often should i give it her? will one dose be enough? the vet said monitor her and if she gets worse or hasnt gone down to take her in.

Thank you. I've given her 1ml of infacol. She seems to be running about happy enough so fingers crossed she's on the road to recovery now. :)

Sometimes helps if you gently massage their sides as well. Found this with my pig! :)

Hope she is better soon!

Thank you. I'll try that too. Got to go to work in a bit and hate leaving her when she is poorly, the OH will be back home soon though at least.

One thing I used when my guinea had slight bloat/gas was one rennie criushed and mixed with water (recommended by Peter Gurney) and massaged her sides one hour later and this really helped.

Thanks for your help all of you. She's was much better when i got home late last night and is back to normal this morning. :)

Thank you! few days on and shes doing fab! no problems at all, belly back to normal size and she's eating fine too :)
