Hello! In a few days my baby’s will be 3 weeks which means my little boar needs to be separated ! He weighs around 217 grams but he’s still nursing a bit, however he’s now picked up rumble strutting which I’m not sure if that’s necessarily good or bad, I don’t want to take him away to soon but I do not want medical problems with more baby’s! I haven’t seen him mount anybody but he’s very noisy, he eats pellets fine and hay and has been drinking from the bottle since he was a day old! Would It be bad to seperate him a few dat earlier?

Hi there
Please remove him at 3 weeks of age or 250g weight, whichever comes sooner.
Does he have a daddy or uncle boar he can go in with?

Yes! I was planning on bonding him with his dad!
That is perfect. He won’t be on his own. Just be brave as he will call for his mum, but don’t be tempted to give in and let them meet as you need to keep them separate as soon as he reaches 3 weeks (unless he reaches 250g sooner than that).

Will this affect mama? They have cages in the same room but apart from each other should I take mama and her girls away or will she be fine? If he’s calling out to her will she be distressed looking for him

To be honest Mum probably won’t mind at all.
But it’s usually best to keep boars in separate room from sows if you can manage it, as the scent of sows can cause a boar pair to fight.

Okay I’ll try I’ve only ever had girls but was given my older boar from a family member along with a female who gave birth to my youngest boar and now I have to make a new arrangement😖will hopefully be finding them a new home because I already have 6 girls and I’m running out of space and money🙈
