I rescued a pair of guinea pigs from a cattle market on Tuesday, the sow is pregnant and the babies can be seen moving so she is quite far along, I have taken the boar away and so they are now on their own in separate cages. I already have a bonded pair of boars so don't want to introduce him and upset them? Obviously if the pregnancy and birth go well and there is a boar I will try bonding him with a baby when they are ready to leave mum, will he be OK on his own for a few weeks?
I just feel really sorry for them both, we can only assume that the whole cattle market experience has been traumatising enough and now they both don't have any friends the sow seems quite happy in her 'nursery' she's quite happy chilling out.
I have though about trying to slowly introducing to my boars but from everything I have been told there's not usually much success. I can't bring myself to rehome him there just seems to be something special about him x)

Hope I've posted in the correct section, sorry if I haven't! x

If you can, keep them next to each other so they can interact through the bars; that will help - provided you can stand the bar gnawing! Please keep them away from your other piggies, as you need to quarantine them first for 2-3 weeks to make sure that they don;t come with any transmittable problems.

You can also give your newbies a cuddly toy each to snuggle up with.
