sented wood shavings?

hi all,
is it safe for piggies to use apple and pine sented shavings?

I'm sure its safe but i dont like the idea of it personally. There smell is better than ours and i cant imagine living in my house reeking of apple or lavender or lemon etc. Sorry, just my opinion. But if you want to bed them on it, I'm sure they are safe. Just check the label to see what is added to them. Shavings can cause respiratory irritation at times so keep an eye on your pigs.

They are not good for piggies. They really irritate their skin. Shavings are not as good as fleece. Fleece is ideal for piggies. I used to use shavings and had no idea it was no good. It really gets up their noses and causes them to sneeze. Switching to fleece was the best thing I ever did.

so fleece is better than wood shavings. how could i wash it without clogging up the washng machine? thanks

I put a layer of towels down and two layers of fleece. You have to shake of the hay before washing it. Two or three times a day I remove the poops and every three days I wash it. I get the fleece from Primark for only three pounds. You have to wash it three times without fabric conditioner to prepare it.

I personaly don't like the scented shavings, used them once before for mice and it didn't make any difference in the smell. Also its added chemicals and more expensive.

i thnik the best way is to hoover it off first(to get bits of hay of) or get a stiff small brush(like a wire brush) and get bits off that way x
